Eagle Tribune, March 5, 2024: Lawrence Catholic Academy getting new $30 million building

LAWRENCE — Eighteen donors each gave a million dollars or more to help cover the $30

million price tag for a new Lawrence Catholic Academy.

The Rev. Paul O’Brien, president of the academy, told the crowd at a groundbreaking

Monday that those donors shared several traits.

“None of them grew up with any money,” O’Brien said. “Many of them grew up with either

parents who died, or they got into extreme trouble, and they made a lot working really

hard with their lives, and they all believe in God and they have sacrificed so deeply to help all of us.”
